About five lakh railway employees who deals with passengers compromising on-board staff, TTEs, station masters, guards, drivers and catering personnel will be sporting new designer uniforms complete with fluorescent jackets and T-shirts from October soon.
And these new designer uniform i.e. jackets and black-yellow T-shirts designed by fashion designer Ritu Beri for the railways.
Uniforms will have Indian Railway logo embossed on Jackets and T-shirts. Half and Full sleeve T-shirts in black and yellow color combination have been designed for the front staff of office.
On the other hand, catering staff will be seen in T-shirts with White but black border.
There are two types of half – fluorescent jackets i.e. YELLOW and GREEN. These fluorescent jackets have been designed for TTEs, guards and drivers.

Suresh Prabhu, Our Railway Minister, had said in his 2016-17 budget, “The uniform of all customers facing railway staff will be redesign to clearly differentiate them on our staff network that exactly what department they belong to.”
Currently, Railway staffs including TTEs, station masters and guards wear the uniforms which were designed a long time ago.
Technical staff in workshops and production units will also be seen in new designed uniforms.
“The new designs are examining by us submitted by Ritu Beri and decision would be taken shortly on final decision”, said a senior railway ministry official.
After the initial trial in some railway divisions, we could have some alterations and changes required, if necessary.
New designed uniforms would be tried on a few RAJDHANI and SHATABDI trains first as part of Project SWARN. Later on we will extend it to other services also.
